Process Part 2
Before we arrive.
Your part Before we arrive
Five things that help.
- Clear the work area of furniture and anything on the walls, or let us know what needs moving.
- Plan on the HVAC being off, or its returns sealed, during sanding days. We'll tell you which days.
- Keep pets and kids out of the work area. Mud buckets and stilts don't mix with either.
- In winter, keep the heat on. Mud needs a warm room to dry right.
- Tell us about access: lockbox, parking, gate codes, quiet hours.
Dust How we keep it contained
Drywall is dusty. Your house doesn't have to be.
- Plastic barriers with zipper doors at the work area
- Floor protection on the path in and in the room
- Returns and vents sealed during sanding
- Sanding methods that capture dust at the source wherever practical
- Daily cleanup, and a full vacuum at the end
Timing Rough guide
How long does it take?
Rough numbers for planning. Your written scope has the real dates. Cold, humid or unheated spaces take longer.
| Job | Visits / time on site | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One room | Several working days | Hang, three coats with drying time, sand, texture |
| Level 5 rooms | Add time for the skim coat | One more coat over everything, plus drying |
| Paint | After texture is dry | Primer, then finish coats |
| New house or commercial | Per the builder's schedule | Square footage, finish level and heat drive it |
